2｜Visitor Record & Open Work Permit Approved

The client applied for a Visitor Record (VR) before their study permit expired, then submitted an in-Canada spousal sponsorship application and applied for a 2-year open work permit while waiting.

Quick Tip: Spousal sponsorship can be processed in Canada or outside Canada.

In-Canada sponsorship is for eligible applicants living with their sponsor in Canada. The couple must continue living together, and the spouse may apply for an open work permit.

Outland sponsorship is for spouses outside Canada and does not require them to live together in Canada. Processing times may vary.

3｜Visitor Record Approved

The client had submitted an NSEE application and applied for a Visitor Record before their work permit expired to maintain legal status.

Quick Tip: After submitting NSEE, applicants may apply for a VR before their work permit expires to maintain legal status, but they cannot continue working after the work permit expires.
